Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1721198  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the spare tire.

  3. Object Number: 1631515  Size: SH
  4. Open the positive battery cable cover (2).
  5. Loosen the positive battery cable nut (1).
  6. Remove the positive battery cable from the battery.

  7. Object Number: 1631510  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the battery vent tube from the battery.

  9. Object Number: 1631508  Size: SH
  10. Remove the battery hold down retainer bolts.
  11. Remove the battery hold down retainers.
  12. Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.

  13. Remove the battery.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1631508  Size: SH

    Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery installation.

  1. Install the battery.
  2. Install the battery hold down retainers.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the battery hold down retainer bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Important: Replacement batteries may require the vent plug in the battery vent hole to be moved from one end of the battery to the other to permit vent tube installation per original design.

  6. Connect the battery vent tube to the battery.

  7. Object Number: 1631515  Size: SH
  8. Install the positive battery cable from the battery.
  9. Tighten the positive battery cable nut (1).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  11. Close the positive battery cable cover (2).

  12. Object Number: 1721198  Size: SH
  13. Install the spare tire.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
