Caution: In order to prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, do not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS). Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.

Fastener Tightening Specifications: Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling for the left side or SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement .
  3. Remove the upper center pillar trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  4. Remove the rear quarter upper trim panel. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  5. Remove the coat hooks. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  6. Remove the sunshade. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  7. Remove the sunshade anchor. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
  8. Lower the side of the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement .

Bolt, Inflatable Restraint Roof Side Rail (Qty: 8)

Tighten
9 N·m (80 lb in)

Tip

  1. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. Ensure the roof rail inflator has been fully deployed before disposal. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .
