  1. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  2. Observe the volt gauge.

Does the volt gauge indicate any voltage?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

  1. Use a J 39200 DMM to measure the battery voltage. Refer to Measuring Voltage in Wiring Systems.
  2. Compare the instrument cluster volt gauge reading with the actual battery voltage.

Are the volt gauge reading and the actual battery voltage within the specified value of each other?

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM between instrument cluster connector cavity B17 and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  3. Compare the voltage at instrument cluster connector cavity B16 with the actual battery voltage.

Are the voltage measured at the instrument cluster connector and the actual battery voltage within the specified value of each other?

Use a J 39200 DMM to measure battery voltage. Refer to Measuring Voltage in Wiring Systems.

Is battery voltage measured within the specified range?

11 V - 13 V

Repair open, short, or poor connection in CKT 39 (PNK) between instrument panel connector cavity B17 and the IP. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
