Start the engine and allow to reach normal operating temperature.

Do the engine temperature and the oil pressure gauge indicate normal temperature and pressure?

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster.
  2. Place the ignition switch in RUN.
  3. Connect a J 35616-200 unpowered test lamp between instrument cluster connector cavity B17 for CKT 39 (PNK) and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a J 35616-200 unpowered test lamp between instrument cluster connector cavity B13 for CKT 451 (BLK/WHT)/CKT 551 (TAN/WHT) and instrument cluster connector cavity B17 for CKT 39 (PNK). Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp light?

Repair the open in CKT 39 (PNK) between splice S216 and the instrument cluster. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in CKT 451 (BLK/WHT)/CKT 551 (TAN/WHT) between the instrument cluster and ground G101. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
