Operate the compact disc player with the vehicle stationary. Use a known good compact disc.

Does the compact disc player skip or mute?

  1. Remove the compact disc player (either as part of the radio or as a separate component). Refer to CD Changer From Bracket Removal or Remote Compact Disc Player Replacement .
  2. Send the player in for repair.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Test drive the vehicle on a reasonably smooth paved road.
  2. Operate the compact disc player with a known good compact disc.

Does the compact disc player skip or mute?

Compact disc player is operating properly.

Advise the customer of the possible cause of the symptom is a defective disc or operating the CD player while driving over an excessively rough road.
