The column mounting brackets are loose.

Tighten the brackets to specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

The column bracket capsule is sheared.

Replace the jacket assembly. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

The support screws are loose.

Tighten the support screws to specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

The tilt pins are backed out.

1. Replace the housing assembly.
2. Replace the support assembly.
3. Replace the tilt pins. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Assemble - Off Vehicle
