Possible Cause

Correction

A restriction causes back-pressure in the hoses or in the steering gear.
  1. Locate the restriction.
  2. Correct the condition.

The following parts have scoring:

    • The pressure plate
    • The thrust plate
    • The rotor
  1. Replace the parts, if needed.
  2. Flush the system. Refer to Power Steering System Flushing .

The cam ring is extremely worn.
  1. Replace the cam ring.
  2. Flush the system. Refer to Power Steering System Flushing .
