The antilock brake system has been divided into service parts supplied. Refer to the illustration below, to identify the specific parts in which service will be performed.

Bolt, Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) (Qty:4)

Tighten: to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

Module, Electronic Brake Control (EBCM)

Notice: Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.

Tip: Ensure that the motor pin connector is removed with the EBCM.

Clean the sealing surface of the BPMV with denatured alcohol and a clean shop cloth.

Do not start the engine, only turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.

Use the scan tool to program a new EBCM

Bolt, Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV)

Tip: Torque the bolts in a criss-cross pattern.

Tighten: to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

Valve, Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV)

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

Tip: Do not start the engine, only turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.

If the brake pedal feels spongy, perform the ABS automated bleed procedure. Refer to ABS Automated Bleed Procedure (Link disabled for test).

Tighten: brake pipe fittings to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

Nut, Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) (Qty:3)

Tip: It may be necessary, to remove the left front tire and wheel to access the nuts. Refer to Tire and Wheel Replacement in Wheels and Tires (Link disabled for test).

Tighten: to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

Bracket, Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV)

Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding in Hydraulic Brakes (Link disabled for test).
