Trailer Turn Signal and Stop Lamps Inoperative or Stay On After Installing Accessort Hitch - keywords block fuse relay ubec wire

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

After installing a GM accessory hitch, it may be found that the trailer turn signal and stop lamps are inoperative or stay on at all times. This may happen if the relays that come with the accessory trailer hitch are installed incorrectly. It is possible to install these relays 4 different ways. If the relays are installed 90 degrees off from the correct position, the turn signals and stop lamps on the trailer will not work or will stay on continuously.

Check for the proper orientation of the RT TRLR STOP/TRN relay and the LT TRLR STOP/TRN relay.

Ensure that the orientation of the terminals on the relay match that of the terminals shown in the picture above.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
