The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
A number of ignition lock cylinder housings have been returned to the Warranty Parts Center (WPC), with no trouble found. These ignition lock cylinder housings have been replaced for the key in ignition warning chime sounds any time the drivers door is open and the ignition key is removed from the ignition cylinder. When using the Tech 2, the "Key In Ignition Status" will display Key In.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Do not replace the ignition lock cylinder housing for this concern. It will be necessary to replace the ignition switch to repair this concern.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
