Subject: | Radio Volume and Chime Volume is Too Loud or Sensitive To Changes - DTC B1025 B1035 B1045 or B1055 |
Models: | 2006 Chevrolet Equinox |
2006 Pontiac Torrent |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
The radio volume is too loud and/or the volume is too sensitive to changes after replacing the radio and/or DTCs B1025 B1035 B1045 or B1055 are set. The Equinox and Torrent have an optional Premium Sound System that includes an amplifier RPO U65. The exchange radios are configured to have "no amp present" as the default setting. This means that if an exchanged radio is installed in a vehicle that does have an amp; the volume will be too loud and sensitive to changes. Plans have been made to make the default setting in the radio to "amp is present." The Tech 2 Software will be updated to include a step under "Radio Setup" which prompts the user to determine if the vehicle is equipped with an amplifier. The Tech 2 software fix will be included on CD # 11, which should be available on TIS2Web on 31-Oct-05.
The repair at this time is to contact Techline (TCSC). TCSC has a version of Tech 2 software specifically created for this issue. It only supports the Equinox/Torrent, and the Tech 2 will need to be reloaded to access any other vehicles. This special software is just an interim fix, until CD # 11 is available to download.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
