Subject: | Information on Implementation of DOT-4 Brake Fluid |
Models: | 2006 Chevrolet Epica |
Built After and Including VIN Breakpoint 6B196829 |
Attention: | This bulletin does not apply to vehicles sold in Canada. |
The purpose of this bulletin is to inform dealers of a change in brake fluid in 2006 Chevrolet Epica vehicles.
The brake fluid was changed from DOT-3 to DOT-4 on December 7, 2005. All vehicles built after and including VIN breakpoint 6B196829 are filled with DOT-4 brake fluid.
Notice: Do not mix DOT-3 brake fluid with DOT-4 brake fluid. Use only the type of brake fluid specified for each vehicle. Using the wrong brake fluid can damage brake system parts.
Notice: Use new brake fluid from a sealed container only.
When the brake fluid needs to be added or replaced, the correct brake fluid (DOT-3 or DOT-4) must be used in accordance with vehicle specification.
To find out which brake fluid is used in a vehicle, refer to the brake fluid reservoir cap. If "USE ONLY DOT 3 FLUID..." is printed on the cap, only DOT-3 brake fluid should be used. If "USE ONLY DOT 4 FLUID..." is printed on the cap, only DOT-4 brake fluid should be used. Using the wrong brake fluid can damage brake system parts. Use new brake fluid from a sealed container only.
The following illustration shows how to distinguish between vehicles with DOT-3 and DOT-4 Brake Fluid.
