Tools Required
    • J 45400 Strut Spring Compressor
    • KM-329-A Spring Compressor

Disassembly Procedure

    Object Number: 1255645 Size: SH
  1. Remove the strut assembly. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .
  2. Fasten the strut assembly to the J 45400 , KM-329-A  (1). Make sure the hooks are seated on the strut spring properly.

    3. Object Number: 1255647 Size: SH
  3. Compress the front spring with the J 45400 , KM-329-A .
  4. Remove the dust cover from the bearing assembly.

    5. Object Number: 1255650 Size: SH
  5. Fix the strut mounting with bite and remove the piston rod nut.

    6. Object Number: 1255651 Size: MH

    Important: Record the position of the front spring seat relative to the strut assembly-to-knuckle bracket. Place the front spring locator back in the same position during assembly.

  6. Remove the upper strut mount, the mount bearing, the upper spring seat, the upper spring insulator, the hollow bumper, and the piston rod boot.

    7. Object Number: 1255652 Size: SH
  7. Release the spring using the J 45400 , KM-329-A  (1).
  8. Remove the spring and the lower spring insulator.

Assembly Procedure

    Object Number: 1255652 Size: SH
  1. Install the lower spring insulator and the spring.
  2. Compress the spring using the J 45400 , KM-329-A (1).

    3. Object Number: 1255651 Size: MH
  3. Install the piston rod boot, the hollow bumper, the upper spring insulator, the upper spring seat, the upper strut mount, and the mount bearing. Be sure the front spring seat is positioned correctly.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1255650 Size: SH
  4. Fix the strut mounting with bite and install the piston rod nut.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the piston rod nut to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).

  5. Install the dust cover onto the bearing assembly.
  6. Release and remove the J 45400 , KM-329-A .
  7. Install the strut assembly onto the vehicle. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .
