Body Side Lower Rear Molding Replacement ZR1
Removal Procedure
Warning: When removing, handling or installing this component wear protective gloves. The sharp edges on the component may be very sharp and may cause injury.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Remove the two front wheelhouse rear rocker molding screws (2) from the
body side lower molding (1).
Warning: Approved safety glasses and gloves should be worn when performing this procedure to reduce the chance of personal injury.
- Using a drill motor and a 5.5 mm (7/32 in) drill bit, drill the center of the body side lower rear molding rivets.
- Remove the ten rivets from the lower body side molding and body side panel.
- Remove the butyl patch (2) from
the inside edge of the rear wheel opening front flare assembly (4).
- Using a drill motor and a 5.5 mm (7/32 in) drill bit, drill the center of the two rear wheel opening flare rivets (3).
- Remove the two rivets (3) from the rear wheel opening flare.
- Remove the body side lower rear molding from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the new body side lower rear molding (1) to the vehicle.
- Loosely install the two front wheelhouse liner rear screws (2) through the lower rear molding (1).
- Secure the two rivets (1) attaching the rear wheel opening front flare
to the rear edge of the body side lower rear molding.
- Beginning at the rear of the lower molding, install the ten rivets (1),
holding firmly the lower body side molding to the contour of the lower body panel working forward.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Secure the two front wheelhouse rear rocker molding screws (1).
Tighten
5 N·m (44 lb in)
- Install the butyl patch to the inside edge of the rear wheel opening front flare assembly as previously removed.
- Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
