Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Open the rear compartment.

Is the TRUNK AJAR message displayed on the driver information center (DIC)?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Open the rear compartment.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the trunk ajar switch signal in the body control module (BCM) data list.

Does the scan tool display TRUNK AJAR?

Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the trunk release actuator.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the trunk ajar switch signal circuit and a good ground.

Is the trunk ajar message displayed?

Go to Step 5

Connect a fused jumper between the trunk ajar switch signal and ground circuits.

Is the trunk ajar message displayed?

Go to Step 7

Inspect for an open or high resistance in the trunk ajar switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the trunk release actuator. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Open the rear compartment.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the trunk ajar switch signal in the body control module (BCM) data list.

Does the scan tool display TRUNK AJAR?

  1. Disconnect the rear compartment lid pull down actuator.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the trunk ajar switch signal circuit and a good ground.

Is the trunk ajar message displayed?

Connect a fused jumper between the trunk ajar switch signal and ground circuits.

Is the trunk ajar message displayed?
