DTC Descriptor

DTC P2544: Transmission Torque Request Circuit

Circuit/System Description

The engine control module (ECM) and the transmission control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly use the controller area network (CAN) to give and receive messages. This fault is handled inside the TCM assembly and no external circuits are involved. The DTC sets when the TCM receives a "torque request invalid" message from the ECM. Since the "torque request invalid" is controlled by the ECM, it is a tell-tale TCM DTC pointing back to the ECM.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly runs the program to detect an internal fault when the key is ON or the engine is running.
    • Ignition voltage is 8-18 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The ECM detects engine torque is inaccurate due to an ECM input.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P2544 is a Type C DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P2544 is a Type C DTC.

Diagnostic Aids

DTC P2544 can not be cleared from the TCM until the related ECM codes have been diagnosed and cleared.
