The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

GM Technical Assistance has received several questions in reference to machining cross drilled rotors on Z06 and Z55 RPO equipped Corvettes. Some of the questions have included the following:

  1. Can vehicles equipped with cross drilled rotors (RPO Z06 and/or Z55) undergo rotor refinishing?
  2. Are there any special machining procedures?
  3. What is the "MIN" machining spec of these rotors? Below are the answers to these questions.

Recommendation/Instructions:

  1. Question - Can cross drilled rotors (RPO Z06 or Z55) be Machined? Answer - YES
  2. Question - Are there special machining instructions compared to conventional rotors? Answer - No, there is no special machining procedure. Follow the procedures in eSI for Corvette under Brake Rotor Refinishing. Also follow all Dealer Equipment instructions and reference Bulletin 00-05-22-002 for proper disc brake service strategy.
  3. Question - What is the "MIN" thickness of the Z06 and Z55 Rotors? SI does not specify Z06 or Z55. Answer - The specifications in SI under Disc Brake Component Specifications, refers to all Corvette brake applications for that model year. The specific RPO codes above will not be called out separately.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
