This PI was superseded to update model years. Please discard PIP4318.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment about difficulty shifting or that the clutch pedal operates very close to the floor.
Physically check the clutch hydraulic system for damage or leaks and repair as necessary. Insure that the system is properly bled and that the clutch reservoir is filled to the 'Fill Line'. DO NOT remove the cover to inspect for proper fill level. Reference the latest version of PIP4269 for proper bleeding procedures. Use only DOT 4 fluid ONLY.
If the above listed physical inspection does not reveal a root cause then replace the clutch assembly. The cause of the low pedal concern may then be due to the fact that the clutch has prematurely forward adjusted.
The latest parts in GMSPO inventory are marked with two white paint dots. Order and install the latest SPO part number and inspect for paint identification per the attached photograph. The installation of parts with two white paint dots will be necessary to correct this low pedal condition.
Note: This change became affective for production with vehicles built approximately 10/26/07. Check VIS for vehicle build date
If the GMSPO clutch arrives without the appropriate double white dot identification call TAC at the phone number you have been provided and set a case.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
