Subject: | No Sound From Radio When Engine Is Running |
Models: | 2005-2007 Chevrolet Corvette |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment of no sound from the vehicle speakers only when the engine is running. This may be the result of a crushed coax cable/wire under the rear decklid latch plate on the body side of the vehicle. This coax runs from the left module to the right module. White wire, circuit 1487, antenna enable signal from the radio to the audio amplifier, left and right speakers, and to the left radio antenna module supplies above 9v to turn on the devices, if the voltage is below 9v the audio amplifier will not turn on.
Remove rear latch trim plate. Inspect the harness for damaged wires or coax cable. Repair wires or replace coax cable and reroute harness to prevent future concerns.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
