The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
After replacing a BCM or SDM, the SIR light may illuminate and DTC B1001 stored current. When attempting to locate "Set Up SDM Part Number In BCM" within the Tech 2, the option is missing. However, the "Set Up New SDM", feature is available. After performing the "Set Up New SDM" feature, the SIR light still may be illuminated and DTC B1001 stored current.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Use the Tech2 and build the vehicle as a 2005 model year. The Tech 2 path is listed below.
Diagnostics > Model Year 2005 > Passenger Car > Chevrolet > Y Body > Restraint > SIR > Module Set Up > Supplemental Inflatable Restraint > Set Up SDM Part Number In BCM.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
