Subject:Brake Pedal Position Sensor Programming

Models:2006 Corvette Z06 only

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A concern may occur when attempting to program the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) sensor where the Tech 2 displays "ERROR, DEVICE CONTROL NOT ALLOWED". This could occur if the BCM does not recognize the apply and release of the park brake as specified during the calibration procedure.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To verify park brake lamp operation, apply the park brake and be sure the red "Brake" indicator on the IPC has illuminated. Then release the park brake and be sure the red "Brake" indicator has turned off. If the lamp does not illuminate, the concern above may apply. Inspect the connection at the park brake switch or circuit 1134 for an open. Once the red "Brake" indicator functions correctly, the BPP calibration can be performed.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
