Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  3. Carefully lift the head-up display (HUD) electrical harness from between the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and the HUD.
  4. Disconnect the HUD electrical connector from the IPC.

  6. Remove the IPC to steering column bracket retaining screws.
  7. Raise the rear of the IPC slightly to release the locator tab, then reposition the IPC to access the HUD-to-steering column bracket retaining screw.

  9. LOOSEN the HUD-to-steering column bracket retaining screw.
  10. Remove the HUD retaining nuts.
  11. Remove the HUD from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Transfer the HUD-to-steering column bracket retaining screw and nut, to the replacement HUD, if necessary.
  2. Install the head-up display (HUD) to the vehicle:
  3. 2.1. Install the HUD onto the dash panel mounting studs.
    2.2. Slide the HUD retaining screw into the slot on the steering column bracket.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the HUD retaining nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the HUD retaining nuts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  6. Tighten the HUD-to-steering column bracket retaining screw.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the HUD-to-steering column bracket retaining screw to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  8. Position the IPC to the steering column bracket.
  9. Check that the IPC retaining tab (1) is positioned correctly to the steering column bracket (2).

  11. Install the IPC to steering column bracket retaining screws.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the IPC to steering column bracket retaining screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  13. Connect the HUD electrical connector to the IPC.
  14. Carefully tuck the HUD electrical harness (1) down between the IPC and the HUD as shown.
  15. Install the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  16. Connect the negative battery cable.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  18. Synchronize the transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Synchronization in Keyless Entry. Program the transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming in Keyless Entry.
