Folding Top Weatherstrip Replacement Front and Center Side Rails

Removal Procedure

    Important: You can remove the front side rail and the center side rail weatherstrips separately.


    Object Number: 214117  Size: SH
  1. Remove the screw from the front side rail weatherstrip.
  2. Remove the front side rail weatherstrip. If required remove the center side rail weatherstrip.
  3. Clean the adhesive from the mounting surface using 3M™ P/N 8984 or equivalent.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 454898  Size: SH
  1. Apply sealer GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472), or equivalent to the forward end of the front side weatherstrip retainer (1).

  2. Object Number: 454887  Size: SH
  3. Apply a bead of sealer GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472), or equivalent 6 mm (2.4 in) high around the front side retainer (1) in the following places:
  4. • At the front upper corner (3)
    • On both sides (2)

    Object Number: 454881  Size: SH
  5. Apply a drop of sealer GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472), or equivalent (3) 12 mm (0.5 in) in diameter to the screw heads of the center side retainer.
  6. Remove the protective film from the adhesive on the weatherstrip.

  7. Object Number: 214117  Size: SH
  8. Install the side rail weatherstrip, as necessary.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the screw to the front side rail weatherstrip.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  12. Reposition the top to the original position.

Folding Top Weatherstrip Replacement Rear Side Rail

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 289910  Size: SH
  1. Position the #1 bow and the #5 bow up.

  2. Object Number: 214124  Size: SH
  3. Remove the push-in retainers from the bottom of the rear side rail weatherstrip.
  4. Remove the weatherstrip.
  5. Clean the adhesive from the mounting surface using 3M™ P/N  8984 or equivalent.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 284768  Size: SH
  1. Apply a bead of sealer GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953472), to the upper and lower corners of the weatherstrip retainer.

  2. Object Number: 284771  Size: SH
  3. Remove the protective film from the adhesive on the back of the weatherstrip.
  4. Install the weatherstrip to the rear side rail retainer.
  5. Install the rear weatherstrip into the end of the center rail side weatherstrip.
  6. Install the push-in retainer to the bottom of the weatherstrip.
  7. Reposition the folding top to the original position.

Folding Top Weatherstrip Replacement Number Five Bow

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 214136  Size: SH
  1. Position the top closed.
  2. Remove the protective pads from the ends of the #5 bow covering the nuts to the 5 bow.

  3. Object Number: 784517  Size: SH
  4. Remove the nuts attaching the ends of the weatherstrip to the 5 bow.

  5. Object Number: 289901  Size: SH
  6. Remove the weatherstrip.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 289901  Size: SH
  1. Install the #5 bow weatherstrip.

  2. Object Number: 784517  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   3. Install the nuts to the ends of the weatherstrip.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Install the protective pads to the weatherstrip nuts.
  6. Install the protective pads to the ends of the bow.
  7. Reposition the folding top to the original position.
