Drip from the Rear Roof Bow Interior Trim Panel (Coupe)

Possible Cause 1

Stripped screw on the front side of the rear roof bow outer trim panel.

Possible Cause 2

Strip caulk around lift window hinge studs not sealing properly.

Diagnosis 1

    • Check the roof bow trim screws and determine if one is stripped and not sealing properly.
    • Perform a local water test on the rear of the roof at the roof bow weatherstrip.

Diagnosis 2

Perform a local water test on the rear roof bow at the lift window panel.

Corrective Action 1

  1. Remove the roof panel.
  2. Remove the stripped screw.
  3. Fill the stripped screw hole with windshield sealant.
  4. Allow the sealant to firm up then install the screw (the screw is not under a load it just fills the hole).

Corrective Action 2

  1. Remove the rear lift window panel.
  2. Install strip caulk around the hinge studs.
  3. Install the rear lift window panel.

Drip from the Rear Corner of the Roof Panel (Coupe)

Possible Cause

The forward edge of the roof weatherstrip rolled rearward when the roof was installed blocking the weatherstrip drain trough.

Diagnosis

Visually inspect the weatherstrip for the front edge showing (only the smooth rear edge of the weatherstrip should be showing).

Corrective Action

Remove the roof panel and reinstall the roof panel without rolling the forward edge of the rear seal rearward.

Leak on Convertible Stowage Lid from No. 5 Bow

Possible Cause

Not enough No. 5 bow tension on the stowage lid.

Diagnosis

With the convertible top securely installed lift the glare cover and check for daylight showing between the stowage lid and the No. 5 bow weatherstrip.

Corrective Action

Adjust the pressure link(s) to increase the downward pressure of the No. 5 bow. Refer to Folding Top Adjustment in Roof.

Drip from the Convertible Top Rear Side Seam (White Vinyl Top Only)

Possible Cause

There is a gap in the seam where the top material overlaps on the inside of the side of the top.

Diagnosis

Perform a local water test along the folding top at the rear side rail to door the window.

Corrective Action

Using 3M Maxi Clear Sealantâ„¢ fill the gap at the bottom of the overlap seam.

Drip from the Front or Rear of the Roof Side Weatherstrip (Coupe)

Possible Cause

There is a gap between the roof panel side weatherstrip and the roof panel side weatherstrip retainer at the front or the rear corner of the roof. Water is leaking under the weatherstrip at the end of the retainer.

Diagnosis

Perform a local water test at the end of the roof weatherstrip.

Corrective Action

  1. Remove the roof panel and place the roof upside down on a clean dry surface.
  2. Remove the screw from the end of the weatherstrip.
  3. Partially remove the weatherstrip.
  4. Apply a bead of urethane windshield sealant 6 mm (0.2 in) high.
  5. • Across the end of the weatherstrip retainer.
    • From the end of the weatherstrip retainer 20 mm (0.8 in) along the upper edge of the retainer.
    • From the end of the weatherstrip retainer 20 mm (0.8 in) along the roof panel at the junction where the roof frame is bonded to the roof panel.
  6. Install the weatherstrip and the attaching screw.
  7. Important: When installing the roof panel make sure the front edge of the rear roof bow weatherstrip does not roll rearward and block the drain trough down the middle of the weatherstrip.

  8. Install the roof lift off panel.
