Removal Procedure

  1. Open the rear compartment lift window.

  2. Object Number: 71198  Size: SH
  3. Remove the rear floor side stowage compartment cover.
  4. Remove the rear/end corner carpet trim panel. Refer to Rear Corner Trim Panel Carpet Replacement in Interior Trim.

  5. Object Number: 71243  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the electrical harness.
  7. Remove the taillamps (for access to latch bracket nuts).

  8. Remove the nuts attaching the latch bracket.
  9. Remove the latch bracket with latch.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 71243  Size: SH
  1. Position the latch with bracket to the rear body panel.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the nuts attaching the latch bracket.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the latch bracket mounting nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the electrical harness.

  6. Object Number: 71198  Size: SH
  7. Install the rear/end corner carpet trim panel. Refer to Rear Corner Trim Panel Carpet Replacement in Interior Trim.
  8. Install the rear floor side stowage compartment cover.
  9. Install the taillamps.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the taillamp mounting screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
