Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 214003  Size: SH

    Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  1. Open and support the rear compartment lid.
  2. Mark the location of the hinges to the lid to aid in installation.
  3. Remove the bolts attaching the hinges to the lid.
  4. With an assistant, remove the rear compartment lid.

Installation Procedure

  1. With an assistant, position the lid to the hinges aligning the hinges with the marks on the lid.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts attaching the hinges to the lid.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear compartment to lid hinge bolts to 31 N·m (23 lb ft).

  5. Remove the lid support and the protective cover.

  7. Install and adjust the overslam bumpers.

  8. Object Number: 444624  Size: SH
  9. Check the flushness of the forward edge of the lid to the adjacent panel.
  10. Adjust the alignment bumper as necessary to make the forward edge of the lid flush to the adjacent panel.
