For 1990-2009 cars only
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Disconnect the park brake cable from the left and right park brake actuators.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Reposition carpet away from park brake lever.
- With the aid of an assistant, pull the disconnected park brake cable downward until it is fully extended and insert a rivet, drill bit or cotter key through the holes in the park brake lever mechanism as they line up. Do not overextend the cable.
