Did you perform the IPC Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, perform the IPC Gages Volts Gage Sweep Test.

Does the volt gage move up and down when commanded?

--

Go to Step 3

With a scan tool, observe the Ignition 1 parameter in the IPC data 1 list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Ignition 1 parameter is within the specified range?

8.0-16.0 V

Go to Step 4

With a scan tool, observe the Ignition 1 parameter in the IPC data 1 list and the voltage gage display on the IPC.

Does the scan tool display correspond with the voltage gage display within the specified value?

0.5 V

System OK

Go to Step 6

Test the ignition positive voltage circuit of the IPC for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
