Schematic Reference: Seat Belt Schematics

Did you review the Seat Belt System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Seat Belts

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Monitor the fasten safety belt indicator while buckling and unbuckling the driver seat belt.

Does the system operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Disconnect the seatbelt switch - left connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the Seatbelt Indicator illuminated?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 4

1. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between seat belt switch signal circuit and the seat belt switch ground circuit of the seatbelt switch connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the Seatbelt Indicator illuminated?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 5

Test and repair the seat belt switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 6

Test and repair the seat belt switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 9

Test and repair seat belt switch signal circuit for a short to ground.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 9

Replace the seatbelt switch. Refer to Seat Belt Buckle Replacement - Left Front .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 10

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 10

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

System OK
