    • J 42120 Steering Wheel Puller Leg Set

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 70114  Size: SH
  1. Remove the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  2. Remove the horn electrical connector.
  3. Install J 42640 to the steering column.
  4. Remove the steering wheel set nut.
  5. Discard the steering wheel set nut.
  6. Install J 36541-A and J 1859-A to the steering wheel. If the J 36541-A puller legs do not fit into the openings, use J 42120 puller legs.
  7. Tighten the puller center screw against steering column shaft until the steering wheel slides off the steering column shaft.
  8. Remove J 36541-A and J 1859-A from the steering wheel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 309617  Size: SH
  1. Install the steering wheel to the steering column, observing the alignment marks (splines).
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install a new steering wheel set nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the new steering wheel set nut to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  5. Remove J 42640 from the steering column.
  6. Connect the horn electrical connector.
  7. Install the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  8. Perform a SIR Diagnostic System Check. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - SIR in SIR.
