Removal Procedure

The electronically operated fuel filler door can be manually opened by pulling on the manual release cable. The manual release cable is located:

    • Behind the drivers side rear inner wheelhouse side carpet (coupe).
    • Behind the stowage compartment support trim (convertible).

  1. Open the fuel filler door.
  2. Remove the fuel cap retaining strap.
  3. Remove the screws mounting the fuel door to the quarter panel.

  4. Object Number: 71229  Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolt mounting the fuel door to the inner body panel.
  6. Remove the fuel door.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 71229  Size: SH
  1. Position the fuel filler door in an open position to the fuel pocket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolt attaching the door to the inner panel.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel filler door bolt to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the screws attaching the fuel filler door to the quarter panel.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the filler door to quarter panel screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the fuel cap retaining strap.
