The HVAC control head uses three knobs and four push buttons in order to control the following features:

    • The air delivery
    • The air temperature
    • The blower motor speed
    • The rear defrost

A vacuum/electrical wiring harness connects the compressor clutch and the blower motor to the HVAC control head.

Front Defrost

If the HVAC controls are set in the Defrost mode when the engine is shut off, the HVAC controls will remain in the Defrost mode for up to 40 minutes. If the engine is off longer than 40 minutes, the HVAC controls will default to the operating mode that was selected prior to the Defrost mode.

Rear Defrost Button

The REAR DEFROST button activates both the rear defroster and the heated mirrors. Pressing the REAR DEFROST button will initiate a operating cycle of 10 minutes. The REAR DEFROST button can be pressed again after the first 10 minutes of operation to allow another 5 minutes of operation. The rear defroster and heated mirror operation can be shut off at any time by pressing the REAR DEFROST button, while the rear defroster is in operation.

For descriptions of the various modes of operation, refer to Operating Modes
