Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 171174 Size: SH

    Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Open the hood and suitably support.
  2. Pry outward on the retaining clip and pull the strut from the hinge upper ball stud.
  3. Pry outward on the retaining clip and pull the strut from the lower ball stud.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 171174 Size: SH
  1. Position the strut with the rod end down.
  2. Snap the upper socket onto the hinge upper ball stud.
  3. Snap the lower socket onto the lower ball stud.
  4. Remove the temporary support and close the hood.
