When the headlamp switch is moved to the HEAD position, battery voltage is applied to the manually operated dimming level control switch in instrument cluster through CKT 103. The output of the dimming level control switch is then converted into a serial data message that is sent through CKT 1036 to the data link connector (DLC) Splice Pack #206. The body control module (BCM) will receive this message and use it to control the dimming of the brake transmission shift lock control PNRDL indicator, the HVAC control head (C60 or CJ2), and the electronic traction suspension control switch lamp. The brake transmission shift lock control PNRDL indicator will see battery voltage applied at all times through CKT 240. The electronic traction suspension control switch lamp will have battery voltage fed when the headlamp switch is turned to the PARK or HEAD position. The BCM will use a pulse width modulated (PWM) ground signal to vary the intensity of the brake transmission shift lock control PNRDL indicator and the electronic traction suspension control switch lamp. The HVAC control head (C60 or CJ2) on the other hand will receive a pulse width modulated (PWM) battery voltage signal form the BCM to control the intensity of its display. The HVAC Control Head (C60 or CJ2) is grounded by CKT 150 through the Splice Pack #202 to G202. The BCM provides the ground path for the lamps/indicators whose dimming it directly controls.
The class 2 data message which is sent out by the instrument cluster is also use to control the dimming of the RH Door Switch illumination and the LH Door Switch illumination. The door control modules will detect the class 2 data message and then illuminate the door switch lamps according to the request being sent from the instrument panel. Battery feed and ground paths are supplied by the door control modules.
When the head lamp switch is in the PARK or HEAD position, battery voltage is applied from PKT/LP Mini Fuse® #6 through CKTs 9 and 240 to the fog lamp/rear compartment lid release switch (domestic) or fog lamp switch (export) illumination lamp. Either of these illumination lamps are grounded at the instrument cluster connector terminal B5 through CKT 717.
When the head lamp switch is in the PARK OR HEAD position, battery voltage is applied from PKT/LP Mini Fuses® #6 through CKT 9 and 240 to the underhood electrical center. From the underhood electrical center it is sent along CKT 9 to the inside rearview mirror LED indicator. This indicator is grounded by CKT 150 through the Splice Pack #202 to G202.
