  1. Disconnect the hazard warning switch connector.
  2. Connect a DMM between the hazard warning switch connector terminal K and ground.
  3. Depress the brake pedal.
  4. Measure the available voltage at the connector.

Is the measured voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Repair a poor connection or an open in CKT 17 between the hazard warning switch terminal K and the stoplamp switch connector.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Exterior Lights System Check

  1. Connect a fused jumper between the hazard warning switch terminal K and terminal J.
  2. Connect a DMM between the connector C209 terminal A and ground.
  3. Depress the brake pedal.
  4. Measure the available voltage at the connector.

Is the measured voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Go to Step 6

  1. Connect a DMM between connector C209 terminal A and the hazard warning switch terminal J.
  2. Measure CKT 27 for continuity between these two connectors.

Is CKT 27 continuous between these two connectors?

Go to Step 11

  1. Using a DMM, backprobe between the connector C209 terminal C and ground.
  2. Depress the brake pedal.
  3. Measure the available voltage at the connector.

Is the measured voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Replace the turn signal switch.

Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the CHMSL connector.
  2. Connect a DMM between the CHMSL connector terminal A and terminal B.
  3. Depress the brake pedal.
  4. Measure the available voltage at the connector.

Is the measured voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Repair an open in CKTs 18/19 between C148 and the turn signal switch.

Is the repair complete?

Repair an open in CKTs 18/19 between C148 and the LH/RH stoplamp light bulbs.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the hazard warning switch.
