Check the IPC MiniFuse® #19 in the instrument panel electrical center.

Is the fuse open?

--

Go to Step 3

  1. Remove the blown fuse.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  3. Using a DMM, measure for continuity between the instrument cluster connector terminal A13 and ground.

Is continuity present between ground and the instrument cluster connector terminal A13?

Repair the short to ground in CKT 139.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Brake Warning System Check

  1. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between the parking brake switch connector terminal A and ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Is the Brake Warning Indicator ON?

Go to Step 6

Replace the parking brake switch. Refer to Park Brake Lever Assembly Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  2. Using a DMM, check for continuity between the instrument cluster connector terminal A6 and the parking brake switch connector terminal A.

Is CKT 33 continuous between these connectors?

--

Go to Step 9

Repair the open in CKT 33.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Brake Warning System Check

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  2. Replace the IPC MiniFuse #19 if it was open.
  3. Connect a DMM between the instrument cluster connector terminal A13 and ground.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  5. Measure the voltage at the instrument cluster connector terminal A13.

Is the voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Go to Step 10

Check the instrument cluster brake warning indicator light bulb for an open circuit. If the bulb is OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

  1. Remove the blown fuse.

  3. Using a DMM, measure for continuity between the instrument cluster connector terminal A13 to ground.

  1. Disconnect the brake fluid level switch connector.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between the brake fluid level switch connector terminal A and terminal B.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Is the Brake Warning Indicator ON?

Replace the brake fluid level switch. Refer to Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Using a DMM, check for continuity between the brake fluid level switch connector terminal B and ground.

Is the resistance to ground less than the specified value?

0.5ohms

Go to Step 9

Repair the open in CKT 150 between G101 and the brake fluid level switch connector.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  2. Using a DMM, check for continuity between the brake fluid level switch connector terminal A and the instrument cluster connector terminal B4.

Is the CKT 333 continuous between these connectors?

--

Go to Step 11

Repair the open in CKT 333.

Is the repair complete?

--

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  2. Replace the IPC MiniFuse #19 if it was open.
  3. Connect a DMM between the instrument cluster connector terminal A13 and ground.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  5. Measure the voltage at the instrument cluster connector terminal A13.

Is the voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Repair the open in CKT 139.

Is the repair complete?

Check the instrument cluster brake warning indicator light bulb for an open circuit. If the bulb is OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
