BRAKE DRAG (MAY BE MISADJUSTED BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH REISSUE

Model and Year: 1987-88 BERETTA, CORSICA

Some customers may experience brake drag resulting from improperly adjusted brake light/cruise control switches.

To check for misadjusted switches, pull the service brake pedal 67-89 Nm. (15 to 20 lbs.) rearward against the pedal stop. If audible clicks are heard, the switch was out of adjustment. Pulling the service brake pedal rearward against the stop will automatically adjust the switches.

NOTICE: NEVER ATTEMPT TO RELIEVE BRAKE DRAG BY CHANGING THE BOOSTER OUTPUT ROD LENGTH OR INSERTING SHIMS BETWEEN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
