DIESEL AIR INTAKE TUBE REMOVAL TO PREVENT WATER INGESTION

The air intake tube (from grille to air cleaner) is no longer being installed at the assembly plants. Should you encounter a vehicle that operates in an environment that will cause it to be driven through standing water more than eight (8) inches deep, driven through standing water at faster than five (5) mph, used in a snow plow operation, or off-road use where water or snow could enter the tube at the grille, the air intake tube should be removed. The tube increases the chance of water ingestion in the above application.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
