General Motors has determined that some 1982 C10 and 1983 C10-20, K10 Series Light Duty Chevrolet Trucks equipped with 4.1 liter L6 engines and automatic transmissions may be emitting pollutants in excess of Federal Emission Standards.
The EGR bleed restrictor may have been omitted in the exhaust emission control harness assembly. The absence of this bleed restrictor may result in poor engine performance and failure to meet NOx emission standards.
All 1982 C10 and 1983 C10-20, K10 Series Light Duty Chevrolet Trucks with RPO's LE3 (4.1L L6 engine) MD8 (automatic transmission) and NA5 or NA6 (Federal or High Altitude) emissions within the following vehicle parameters:

Involved vehicles have been identified by Vehicle Identification Number Computer Listings. Computer listings contain the complete Vehicle Identification Number, owner name and address data, and are furnished to the involved dealers with the campaign bulletin. These listings may contain owner names and addresses obtained from State Motor Vehicle Registration Records. Dealers are to service all vehicles subject to this campaign at no charge to owners, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership, from this time forward.
Whenever a vehicle subject to this campaign is taken into your new or used vehicle inventory, or it is in your dealership or service in the future, you should take the steps necessary to be sure the campaign correction has been made before reselling or releasing the vehicle.
Owners of vehicles recently sold from your new vehicle inventory are to be contacted by the dealer, and arrangements made to make the required modification according to instructions contained in this bulletin.
1. Raise hood.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove vacuum tee that contains hoses from the EGR valve, air cleaner and carburetor vacuum part (Refer to illustration).
4. Install new vacuum tee P/N 14057211 as shown in illustration.
5. Reinstall air cleaner and hoses to the EGR valve, air cleaner and carburetor vacuum.
6. Install campaign label.
7. Close hood.
Part Number 14057211, bleed restrictor, required to complete this campaign is to be obtained by the dealer from the Chevrolet Zone Service Department. Parts will be furnished to the dealer on a no charge basis.

**Dealers will automatically be credited 30% of dealer net when parts are furnished at no charge by Chevrolet.
Dealers will automatically receive the correct parts and labor allowance based on the Labor Operation performed.

Each vehicle modified in accordance with the instructions outlined in this Product Campaign Bulletin will require a "Campaign Identification Label". Each label provides a space to include the five digit dealer code of the dealer performing the campaign service. This information may be inserted with a typewriter or ballpoint pen.
Each "Campaign Identification Label" is to be located on the radiator core support in an area which will be visible when the vehicle is brought in for periodic servicing by the owner.
Apply "Campaign Identification Label" only on a clean dry surface.

The exhaust gas recirculating (EGR) bleed restrictor may have been omitted in the exhaust emission control harness assembly. The absence of this bleed restrictor may result in poor engine performance and failure to meet NOx emission standards.
To bring your vehicle into compliance with applicable emission requirements, Chevrolet Dealers will install the EGR bleed restrictor. This service will be performed at no charge to you. Please contact your Chevrolet Dealer on or after the date shown below to arrange an appointment to have this condition corrected.
Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your dealer. It is estimated that parts will be available at your dealer on or about November 22, 1983. The labor time for making this modification is approximately 20 minutes.
The enclosed owner reply card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction to your vehicle in the shortest possible time.
