A service fix has been developed to install a new module in early built 1983 "C-K-G" trucks with the LE9 engine and manual transmissions to assist launching the vehicle.
This service fix contains a new module that will assist launching the vehicle by limiting the spark retard for five (5) seconds after the clutch is activated.
Trucks built with the new control module can be identified by the following means:
A 12 gauge yellow wire attached to pin D on module assembly.
Module, P/N 16031121, broadcast code of BPW.
A vehicle without the new module will have P/N 16026481 broadcast code BLM module. The control module is located in the following places:
"G" van - under driver's seat.
"C-K" trucks - right side of instrument panel behind glove box.
Each service kit will include a new module, a service only jumper, connector, straps and instruction sheet.
Service kit part numbers are:
"C-K" 10-20 series trucks - P/N 15598431.
"G" 10-20 series vans - P/N 15598430.
