Removal Procedure
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Move the front seats rearward.

    3. Object Number: 293474 Size: SH
  3. Remove the park brake lever cover.
  4. Pull the park brake lever all the way back.
  5. Remove the release spring from the park brake assembly.
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.

    7. Object Number: 293483 Size: SH
  7. Remove the left and right cables from the equalizer.
  8. Remove the grommet from the underbody.
  9. Lower the vehicle.

    10. Object Number: 293477 Size: SH
  10. Bend the cable retaining tab away from the cable.
  11. Rotate the ratchet assembly.

    12. Disconnect the park brake cable.

  12. Remove the park brake cable from the floor pan.

Installation Procedure
  1. Connect the park brake cable to the floor pan.

    2. Object Number: 293477 Size: SH
  2. Connect the park brake cable to the ratchet assembly.
  3. Bend the cable retaining tab over the cable.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information in the 1999 C/K Truck Service Manual.
  5. Install the grommet into the underbody.

  6. Install the left and right cables to the equalizer:
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Pull the park brake lever all the way back.
  9. Install the release spring to the park brake assembly.

    10. Object Number: 293474 Size: SH
  10. Install the park brake lever cover.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
