Caution: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

Important: When removing the crankshaft rear oil seal from the cylinder block be careful not to nick the crankshaft sealing surface.
J 38841 Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Installer
1.1. | Lubricate the inner and outer diameter of the crankshaft rear oil seal with clean engine oil. |
1.2. | Install the crankshaft rear oil seal the J 38841 . |
1.3. | Position J 38841 against the crankshaft. Thread the attaching screws into the tapped holes in the crankshaft. |
1.4. | Tighten the screws securely with a screwdriver in order to ensure that the seal is installed squarely over the crankshaft. |
1.5. | Turn the handle until it bottoms. |
1.6. | Remove the J 38841 from the crankshaft. |
