Removal Procedure

  1. If the cable is broken, release the hood by pressing the latch tab on the left side of the lock assembly. Use a rod to press the latch tab.
  2. Lift the hood.
  3. Remove the left hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  4. Object Number: 349793  Size: SH
  5. Remove the cable handle underneath the instrument panel (IP).
  6. Remove the cable end from the handle.
  7. 5.1. Use needle nose pliers in order to squeeze the tabs in order to remove the cable end from the hood latch assembly.
    5.2. Lift the cable from the lock.

  8. Pull the cable in toward the cable handle through the hole in the cowl.

  9. Object Number: 349786  Size: SH
  10. Detach the cable from the retainer clips.

  11. Object Number: 393503  Size: SH
  12. Remove the cable end from the hood latch assembly.
  13. 8.1. Use needle nose pliers in order to squeeze the tabs in order to remove the cable end from the handle.
    8.2. Lift the cable from the lock.

Installation Procedure

  1. Insert and pull the cable toward the front of the vehicle through the hole in the cowl.

  2. Object Number: 393503  Size: SH
  3. Attach the cable end to the latch assembly.

  4. Object Number: 349786  Size: SH
  5. Attach the cable to the retainer clips.
  6. Attach the cable end to the cable handle.

  7. Object Number: 349793  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Attach the cable handle underneath the IP.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the cable handle nut to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  10. Install the left hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  11. Close the hood.
