Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement Primary

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the hood.
  2. Remove the upper radiator support baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors in Engine Cooling.

  3. Object Number: 331323  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolts (2) from the hood release latch (1).

  5. Object Number: 393503  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the hood release cable from the latch. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 331323  Size: SH
  8. Remove the hood release latch (1) from the radiator support brace (3).
  9. Adjust the front hood bumpers so that the top of the hood is flush with the fenders.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 331323  Size: SH
  1. Install the hood latch (1) to the radiator support (3).
  2. Install the hood latch bolts (2) loosely.

  3. Object Number: 393503  Size: SH
  4. Install the hood latch release cable to the latch. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement .
  5. Adjust the hood latch height so that when the hood is closed, the hood is held securely against the front hood bumpers. Mark this height.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Raise the hood.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the hood latch bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
