THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND SUPERSEDES DEALER SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 88-380-10, DATED DECEMBER 1988. PART NUMBERS HAVE BEEN CHANGED AS WELL AS THE PARTS STATEMENT. ALL COPIES OF 88-380-10 SHOULD BE DISCARDED.
Some 1988 L and Y cars, and C, K trucks may exhibit power window lift motors that start out as intermittent operation and eventually become inoperative. This condition may be due to restricted brushes making intermittent contact with the armature commutator.
New brush replacement packages may be ordered from GMSPO under part number 22094719.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
An instruction sheet describing the proper procedures is included in each package. While regulator and motor removal from the door is required, IT IS NOT NECESSARY to remove the motor from the regulator to replace the brushes. It will be necessary to secure the regulator sector gear to the backplate as outlined in the appropriate service manual prior to performing this repair.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
