Setting of the throttle position switch (TPS) on 6.2L diesel LH6 engine (L.D.), must be correct to assure proper engine and transmission operation.
Chart 1 displays the settings to use for the various Nationwide/ Federal/California engine transmission configurations. Locate the part number on the face of the switch. Refer to the chart column listing that part number. Using the other vehicle parameters listed, a gage bar setting can be determined. The 1982 Light Duty Truck Service Manual on page 6C6-2 (Figure 6C6-4) does not specify the dimensions of the gage bar settings.
Reference is made to Kent-Moore tools available for this setting.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
