Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the PCM (1), and PCM mounting bracket (3). Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
- Remove the BPMV mounting bolts (3).
- Remove the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) bracket upper mounting bolts (2) and lower mounting bolts (4).
- Remove Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) bracket (1).
Important: Do not disconnect wiring harness to PCM.
Installation Procedure
- Install the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) bracket (1).
- Install the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) Bracket upper mounting bolts (2) and lower mounting bolts (4).
- Install the BPMV mounting bolts (3).
- Install the PCM (1), and PCM mounting bracket (3). Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the mounting bracket upper and lower bolts
to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
Important: Do not disconnect wiring harness to PCM.
