Did you perform the Instrument Panel Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Observe the CHECK GAGES indicator in the instrument panel cluster (IPC).

Does the CHECK GAGES indicator turn OFF after the displays test?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect C210.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Observe the CHECK GAGES indicator in the IPC.

Does the CHECK GAGES indicator illuminate in the IPC?

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the multifunction alarm module (MFAM) connector C1.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Observe the CHECK GAGES indicator in the IPC.

Does the CHECK GAGES indicator illuminate in the IPC?

Test the check gages indicator control circuit for a short to ground between C210 and the PCM. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  2. Disconnect the engine oil pressure (EOP) switch.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Observe the CHECK GAGES indicator in the IPC.

Does the CHECK GAGES indicator turn OFF after the displays test?

  1. Turn the engine OFF.
  2. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) switch.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Observe the CHECK GAGES indicator in the IPC.

Test the signal circuit of the EOP switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
