Removal Procedure

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Block the wheels.
  3. Drain all the reservoirs. Refer to Draining Reservoirs .
  4. Mark the air lines and the connections to aid in installation.
  5. Disconnect the air lines from the application valve.
  6. A double check valve and line fittings are attached to the valve. These can be removed from the valve or taken out with the valve as an assembly.

  7. Remove the nuts (2) in the cab compartment.
  8. Remove the nuts (5) in the engine compartment.
  9. Remove the dual application valve (4).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the dual application valve (4).
  2. Install the nuts (5) in the engine compartment.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the nuts (2) in the cab compartment.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the dual application valve nuts (2) and (5) to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  6. Install the air lines.
  7. Start the engine.
  8. Charge the system air pressure to the governor cut-out point.
  9. Stop the engine.
  10. Check for air leaks using a soap solution. Refer to Air Brake System Leak Test .
  11. Remove the wheel blocks.
