Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 208941  Size: SH
  1. Set the parking brake.
  2. Block the drive wheels.
  3. Place a suitable container under the master cylinder in order catch the fluid that will leak.
  4. Remove the hydraulic pipes from the master cylinder. Refer to Front Brake Pipe Replacement or Rear Brake Pipe Replacement .
  5. Cap or plug the hydraulic pipes. Refer to Front Brake Pipe Replacement or Rear Brake Pipe Replacement .
  6. Remove the low fluid level sensor connector.
  7. Remove the mounting nuts.
  8. Remove the master cylinder.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Refer to Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding before installing the master cylinder.

  1. Install the master cylinder.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the mounting nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting nuts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  5. Install the low fluid level sensor connector.
  6. Install the hydraulic pipes to the master cylinder. Refer to Front Brake Pipe Replacement or Rear Brake Pipe Replacement .
  7. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  8. Caution: After releasing the parking brake, be sure the vehicle will not roll forward or backwards when removing the wheel blocks. If the vehicle is not in gear, the vehicle may move possibly causing personal injury.

  9. Remove the wheel blocks.
  10. Release the parking brake.
